Whitewater Sports
Whitewater rafting in Perak!

Whitewater activities in Malaysia are generally held in small rivers or creek runs as oppose to large rivers in its Western counterparts. Small doesn’t mean less action, however. The excitement in maneuvering past boulders, surviving the high drops and taming the big waters, match and even surpass some of the popular international whitewater destinations. Padas and Nenggiri are considered big rivers.

Rafting
Roku Thumbs up on Singor whitewater rafting and campingRafting is commonly done in 6  and 8 seater configurations with at least 1 river guide. Rafts made from synthetic rubber are very tough but they do wear out, especially the bottom-side since they  graze and bumps rocks. A rope is usually strung around the raft to aid handling and more oftenly used for holding on when you fall over.

Kayaking
Both hard-shell and inflatable kayak adventures are available but at limited rivers. We offer both sea / mangrove and river kayaking adventures around Langkawi and Sarawak.

A common guide to whitewater rapid classification
I Easy. The passage is clear and easy to recognise and negotiate.
II Novice. Generally unobstructed rapids with low drops, easy eddies and gradual bends.
III Intermediate. Strong eddies and current, requiring skilled maneuvering. Rapids with fairly high waves (1-2 m), exposed rocks and small falls.
IV Advanced. Powerful but predictable rapids requiring precise boat han dling in turbulent water and around dangerously exposed rocks. The run may require inspection from the bank.
V Expert. Very difficult rapids with extremely choppy water, large drops, violent currents with boiling eddies which expose paddlers to a high degree of danger. Requires expertise and reliable equipment for safe passage. Detailed inspection from the bank is required.
VI Unrunnable. Cannot be attempted without a definite risk of life.
