A romantic boutique resort hugging the coastline and built on sturdy stilts, there are 45 units of water Villas, all fronting the South China Sea. Tastefully designed with creature comforts, these well appointed villas even offer fine Chinese tea leaves for your private brewing.

Various recreational activities are available. Snorkelling, scuba diving, island hopping & kayaking are some of the main activities here including Yoga and medidation classes. There are 3 private beaches and a turtle conservation sanctuary that has been running for 15 years.

Eves of, public and school holiday surcharges of RM 40 per villa, marine park fees (RM 5), airport and boat transfers. Airport transfer by limo, 1-3 persons is charged at RM 150 per way. 

Getting Here

Gem Isle is located at Marang, a district of the East Coast state of Terengganu, Malaysia. Gem isle is located next to Kapas Island about 15 minute boat ride from the mainland. It can be reached via a 45 minute flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the city of Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu,  Malaysia. 
Boat Schedule
There are boat transfers that run from Marang jetty to Kapas and Gem island e.g. Suria Link. The schedule are as follows:
Marang - Gem Isle - 0900, 1100, 1300*, 1500
Gem Isle - Marang - 0930, 1130, 1330*, 1530
* Not available on Fridays.
Return transfer will cost RM 45/35 for Adult / Child respectively.

Responsible Tourism practices

Economic
The resort gives preference to hiring locals within the area. Mutual partnerships are developed and maintained with jetty operators, cab drivers, boat operators and other dive centres in the vicinity i.e. Kapas island.

Social
Resort management are active members of the local community and participate in community meetings. Staff as well as guests are given opportunities to feedback to management issues and remarks about their stay. 

Environmental
There has been a long running turtle conservation program whereby eggs are collected and stored until they are hatched. Turtle hatchlings are nurtured until they are stronger, usually around 2 months, before they are released into the sea. There is a turtle conservation officer on duty that collects the eggs, stores and cares for the hatchlings till they are released. The baby turtles are available for viewing and the officer does nightly presentations on turtle conservation to guests. There are posters around the resort to remind users on the need for conservation.

The resort also encourages guests to minimize water wastage, reuse bed linen and towels. There are also motion detector lights placed around the walkways to save energy. 

Our Say

This is a resort with a heart for its turtle program and definitely the best option around Kapas island. It steers well clear from the surrounding backpacker accommodation. There is peace and quiet and the whole of Gem isle is yours to explore: wade in rock pools, snorkel, kayak or just laze around. Recommended!
