Characterised by a striking blend of exotic Malay, Chinese, Indian, Balinese, Thai and Vietnamese flair, JapaMala strives to accentuate the exuberance of Asian cultures and celebrate the earthy, simple yet vitally creative Asian way of life.
Situated on Tioman Island, off the East Coast of Malaysia, JapaMala Tioman boasts luxury 'Sarang' Villas and eco-friendly chalets designed to exist in harmony with nature. A combination of luxurious accomodation and fine-dining facilities make JapaMala Tioman the perfect place to get away from it all, without foregoing the finer things in life.

Some guests are prefectly content to do absolutely nothing at all. While others prefer to try their hand at popular island activities such as: beach combing, jungle trekking, rock climbing or snorkeling. However you choose to occupy yourself, JapaMala Resort Tioman is the place to relax, revive and refresh.
Rooms and Facilities
Sarang Villa
Offering privacy, luxury and a resort experience like no other, our Sarang Villas can be found secretly tucked away in their own little retreat. Taking their name from the Malay word for 'nest' our Sarang Villas or 'Love Nests' have been built with your utmost privacy in mind.
The greatest of care has been taken so as not to disturb the surrounding habitat and to ensure that you live in harmony with nature. Great care has been taken to minimise any environmental impact. No rocks were moved, no trees were cut down. As a result no two Villas are the same. Each is unique - taking on the character of the land upon which it is built.
These are the jewels in JapaMala's crown and are perfect for honeymooners or anyone looking for a romantic getaway.
Seaview chalets
Our Sea View Chalets offer commanding views of the South China Sea. Glorious tropical sunsets are best enjoyed from the Sea View chalets. Each chalet has its own distinct design and offers a unique, unobstructed view; providing an excellent vantage point from which to take in the evening colours as well as the surrounding beauty of JapaMala beach.
Treetop
The treetop chalets rest in the cool shade of the jungle canopy. These secluded retreats, situated a short walk from the sea front, offer our guests an entirely different resort experience. Here you'll find the noise of the jungle predominates: the soft rustle of windblown leaves; the chirping of crickets and birds; the foraging of wild creatures at night. You may even come to recognise the calls of the resident monkey troop as they come to check out their curious new neighbours.
