Paragliding and motorised paragliding is still a relatively unknown sport in Malaysia. The basic courses provides a comprehensive theory and practical syllabus to train one with no experience to become eventually a confident independent glider with a license from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA). It is important to note that the courses listed are merely introductory starter packages and does not immediately grant a graduate to fly out in the open with out assistance. Once novice students gain more confidence and experience, they will be taught more complex flying skills and they are encourage to purchase his own equipment to live the hobby together with the other enthusiasts in Malaysia.
3-Day Paragliding Course
The courses below are taught by Lt.Col.(R) Basir Hj Abd.Rahman, formerly with the Malaysian airforce with many decades of experience in flying planes and paragliding. He had setup Persatuan Terbang Layang Malaysia (PTLM) / Malaysian Paragliding Association to bring all local enthusiasts together to share experiences and to organise trips around Malaysia and around the region (Indonesia and Thailand)
The 3-Day Paragliding course includes theory and practical aspects. The theory lessons, at approximately 4 hours per day, are at an ad hoc location, whilst the practical lessons are at Bukit Jugra, Banting, Selangor for approximately 1 hour. The practical lessons includes 1 tandem flying and 2 solo flying. A minimum of 3 pax, to a maximum of 10, is required.
Itinerary
Day 1 & 2: Morning sessions cover introduction to paragliding, equipment training, safety and aviation rules. The afternoon will involve practice sessions.
Day 3 – Its time to run down the hill!!

5-Day Paramotoring/Powered Paragliding Course
The 5-Day Paramotoring course includes theory and practical aspects. The theory lessons, at approximately 8 hours per day, are at an ad hoc location, whilst the practical lessons are at Pulau Indah, Port Klang, Selangor for approximately 1 hour. The practical lessons includes 1 tandem flight and 2 solo. A minimum of 3 pax, to a maximum of 5, is required.

Itinerary
Day 1: Classroom theory in the morning. In the evening, hands-on paragliding. Ends about 6.30pm.
Day 2 & 3– Hands-on paragliding in the morning. In the afternoon, classroom theory.
Day 4- Pre-take off practical at Pulau Indah and take off in the afternoon.
Day 5- 2 flights into the sky!
Please note that the programmme may not necessarily run on consecutive days. Subject to weather conditions, the schedule may vary or change at the discretion of the instructor until the actual event dates.
Powered/Motorised Paragliding/Paramotor Rates
RM3000 per pax
Each flight takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Prices are inclusive of paragliding gear, communication equipment, training classes, instructor and assistants, and excludes insurance, transport and lunch. In addition, once you've completed the course, you'll receive the following:
- A certificate of completion
- Automatic membership to Persatuan Terbang Layang Malaysia (PTLM) (renewable at RM100 per annum). Immediate access to member forums and discussion groups, organized fun flying trips, competitions (local and abroad), subsidize traveling rates to paramotor competitions and exhibitions (abroad)
- Free supervision for continued flying services until they get PL1 (pilot license that is only for paragliding)
Transport Option
For the 3-Day paragliding course, return transport to Bukit Jugra is available at RM70 per pax from Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya. For the 5-Day paramotor course, return transport to Pulau Indah is available at RM70 per pax from Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya. Paramotoring can also be undertaken at Gunung Ledang and Langkawi.
