Our friendly and very attentive activity providers, Mountain Torq has launched new extraordinary alpine adventures in Mount Kinabalu! Scale the Mt Kinabalu’s granite walls, explore the various peaks of Mt Kinabalu from the ways of a sports/rock climber. Discover what it’s like to descend from a rope from great heights.
Whether you have been to Mount Kinabalu or not, MT now has another reason why you should be heading up there. You don't need to be an experienced mountain climber to go for sports climbing. Just as long you are not afraid of heights and be attentive to the trainer/guide's instructions. Some experience in rock/wall climbing is required.

What do I get to do?
Explore the various peaks of Mt Kinabalu from the ways of a sports/rock climber and then top it up by walking the highest via feratta in the world.
Adventure Rating and Remarks
A must do actvity if you aren't afraid of heights. Go up to Low's Peak summit for the sunrise then spend the later morning on these activities.
Accommodation
Mountain Torq offers you their own brand spanking new dorm accommodation, Pendant Huts (30 bunk beds) or Sayat-Sayat Hut (10 bunk beds), if you are taking up their activities.
They have also taken over management of final check point Sayat Sayat Hut for future alpine climbing activities.

What does it include?
At Laban Rata base camp, our activity partners MT will provide all technical safety equipment required for its activities. As for personal items, here's a checklist of what you will normally bring for mountain hiking:
Warm clothing, waterproof gloves, water bottle, headlamp, comfortable running/ hiking shoes (waterproof is best) with good threads, raincoat/Wind breaker, woolen cap, energy snacks, sunglass and sun lotion (beware of the strong UV rays), A small backpack to hold your things
Packages up to Laban Rata/Low's Peak would include meals listed in the itinerary, entry permit, park fees, mountain guide fee, mountain climbing insurance, English speaking guide (from KK hotel or airport to Kinabalu Nature Park or Mesilau Nature Park only).
What does it exclude?
Gratuity tips, meals not listed, snacks. Please note that food at Laban Rata is more expensive. You may bring your own food up.
Please provide yourself additional travel insurance, check if activities listed are covered by your insurance and know your physical and mental limits before exerting on high-altitude activites.
Best time to visit
Available year round. Weather is usually better during non-monsoon periods (Mar-Sept). It gets windy & cold up there so do bring the right gear.
Getting Here
From Kuala Lumpur, you can choose to either fly via Malaysia Airlines (MAS) or AirAsia to Kota Kinabalu.
There are taxi and mini-buses (or van) from the open-air Kota Kinabalu Bus station to Kinabalu Nature Park. The station is located in the heart of town. Kota Kinabalu town is a compact town where almost every location is in walking distance.
Responsible Tourism practices
This is a responsible operator who employs former Kinabalu mountain guides and equips them with professional mountain climbing skills and customer service. The equipment used are world class standards and constantly checked for safety.
They have invested substantially into contructing the Pendant Hut at Laban Rata and taken over the management plus improved the conditions of the old final checkpoint hut, Sayat Sayat. These accommodations will ensure the guides and guests are provided with a comfortable rest before the strenuous activities.
Non biodegradable waste are taken down to Kinabalu Nature Park.
